Maybe you could use them to make marmelade? It's best with bitter oranges. Boil them whole in water until so soft you can pierce skin with fincger nail, cut in half and remove seeds and membrane (but save any pulpy bits), slice skin thinly and put with pulp in a pan, add sugar and a wee bit of water if it looks dry (they recommend a weight of sugar equal to that of orange skins, but I use half that weight), boil until it gels and then bottle... a bittersweet breakfast awaits! And great if the oranges are free!

yeah! they are indeed free, the grow (and fall off) the trees here all over the city! we shall have to take a basket and go a'hunting, thanks for the tip!
